Here are some the workers' compensation acronyms:

15-8 - a section of law which gives the carrier reimbursement from Special Funds - Does not effect the amount of payment to the worker, but can have an impact on the eventual settlement value, as Special Funds tend to low-ball a settlement.

ANCR - accident, notice, and causal relationship - injured worker must establish to have a claim.

AWW - average weekly wage - average of 52 weeks prior to the date of the accident.

CCP - carrier continue payments - for example, "1/1/00 to date at $125, CCP at same rate."

HIA - held in abeyance - means it will be put on the backburner, and will deal with it later.

ODNCR - occupational disease, notice, and causal relationship - necessary to establish claim for occupational disease as opposed to an injury caused by an event, or multiple events.

PPD - permanent partial disability - classified as a permanent disability, and payments continue - in an SLU, an award is paid, and payments stop.

SLU - scheduled loss of use - when a loss to a part or member of a body can be determined, e.g. amputation of a finger, 50% loss of vision. Condition must be stable; if worsening, should not be scheduled, but classified.

TT - Temporary Total disability
